Heel Tough Blog: Multiple Tar Heels Involved in Traffic Stop That Resulted in Charges
According to Inside Carolina, two Tar Heel football players were charged in a traffic stop that occurred on Tuesday night in Chapel Hill.
True freshman wide receiver Keeyun Chapman was charged with a misdemeanor gun charge, while fellow true freshman C.J. Sadler was charged with driving 60 mph in a 35 mph zone, per the police reports obtained by Inside Carolina.
Police pulled Sadler over at 1050 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Chapel Hill according to the police report where Chapman was charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
According to another police report obtained by Inside Carolina, 15.1 grams of marijuana were seized during the traffic stop.
The police report also notes that this is the third time since the beginning of August 2026 that Sadler has been cited for speeding. According to Inside Carolina, Sadler was suspended from team activities at one point this offseason due to “disciplinary issues”.
According to the availability report that the ACC released on Wednesday night, neither player will be active for the game against Clemson on Saturday afternoon. While Chapman has yet to feature in a game this season, Sadler has played a combined 49 snaps between the first two games and started the game this past Saturday against East Tennessee State. Sadler showed why the Tar Heels were so excited about him when they landed him in the 2026 recruiting cycle on Saturday, catching three of his four targets for 66 yards.
With him out, the Tar Heels will likely rely heavily on Trech Kekahuna in the slot. Others who could see a boost in snaps are Nathan Leacock and Nyqir Helton.
