The Tar Heels are one of the hottest teams on the 2027 recruiting trail after a huge Sunday of commitments. After landing 4✮ EDGE Brayden Booth and 3✮ DL Kaiden Robinson-Vickers, the Tar Heels have now added a commitment from one of their top wide receiver targets in the class as of this evening.

As first reported by Inside Carolina, 2027 3✮ WR Anthony Williams committed to the Tar Heels on Sunday evening following an official visit to campus last weekend. He commits to UNC over offers from Virginia Tech, Liberty and East Carolina amongst others.

Williams, who is currently and unranked prospect in the 2027 class according to Rivals Industry Rankings, is getting ready for his senior season at Oceanside Collegiate Academy in North Charleston, SC. In 2025, as a junior, Williams hauled in 61 passes for 1,061 yards and 12 touchdowns in 15 games for an Oceanside Collegiate Academy team that would finish the season 13-2 and win the SCHSL AAA state title game.

Williams, who measures in at 6’1, 190 lbs., is a player that should be getting way more love than he is in this 2027 class. He has some fantastic speed that jumps off the page immediately when you watch his highlights and it allows him to consistently win deep, something that will be very welcomed in Chapel Hill under Bobby Petrino. That speed also shows up after the catch, allowing him to create big plays consistently even if it is a short throw. When it comes to what he does after the catch, he also does a good job of making defenders miss with his strong change of direction and a little edge that allows him to run through defenders. He is a tremendous route runner because of how hard and crisp he runs his routes and while his route tree might not be the complete in the class, it’s not as basic as some deep ball threats that we’ve seen on the recruiting trail before. He is a good hands catcher of the ball, as well. This is a pickup that on the surface might not feel like a big deal because of the rankings, but he is quietly one of the highest upside players for the Tar Heels in this class.

With the commitment, the class now sits at 14 total commits and one at the wide receiver position. Believe it or not, his commitment actually drops the Tar Heels to No. 47 overall in the class and No. 13 in the ACC according to the Rivals Team Rankings, which is absolutely ridiculous.
