After a day full of commitment in the portal, the Tar Heels have landed their first commitment of the day in the form of a Florida transfer defensive lineman.
As first reported by Pete Nakos of On3 Sports/Rivals, the Tar Heels have landed Florida transfer defensive tackle Tarvorise Brown following a visit to Chapel Hill back on Friday. He has three years of eligibility remaining at the college level.
Brown, who measures in at 6’7, 300 lbs., played in just six games in the last two years with Florida after transferring from Hutchinson Community College. In the 53 snaps that he has played at the FBS level, he has five total tackles. In 2023, with Hutchinson C.C., he failed to appear in a single game for the program before transferring at the end of the season.
This is a pure potential addition and is one that seems like a luxury addition if he’s going to play on the interior of the defensive line. As of now, the team is expected to bring back all four major contributors at the defensive tackle position and has four members of the 2026 class who will also be looking to battle for reps at the position this upcoming season. The team could also try to play him at edge rusher, the position that he played in high school, but it’s hard to feel great about him making a major impact there. The hope should be that he sticks at defensive tackle and can finally live up to his upside in Chapel Hill after struggling to do so in Gainesville.
