For the fifth time in the 2026 recruiting cycle, the Tar Heels have landed a commit along the offensive line.
Just moments ago, 2026 unranked offensive tackle Nick Fiumara announced via social media that he has committed to UNC following his official visit to Chapel Hill over the weekend. He committed to the Tar Heels over Maryland, a team that was supposed to get an official visit this weekend.
Fiumara, who is unranked in the 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, hails from Belmont Hill School in Belmont, MA. This past season, as a junior, he received first team All-Independent School League honors in a season where he failed to allow a sack in his second season as a varsity starter. He also received All-Independent School League honors in wrestling and is a member of the track and field team where he throws shot put and discus.
Fiumara has great size at 6’5, 290 lbs. and provides some nice promise as a developmental prospect. He is very physical at the point of attack as witnessed by the amount of pancake blocks and toss asides that he has on film. His heavy hands are very impactful and are a big part of the reason why he is so impactful. His versatility will be very valuable at the next level, as he has strong tape on both sides of the offensive line at the offensive tackle position. His strength is as a run blocker in my opinion because there are times where he was pushed back a bit in pass coverage, but he still has some solid lateral movement that allows him to stay in front of most edge rushers. The biggest concern is the level of competition and it is a legitimate one that will make his learning curve a bit steeper than some of the team's other additions along the offensive line in this class.
With his commitment, the Tar Heels are back up to 17 commitments in the 2026 class and have their first true offensive tackle commit in this class according to 247Sports. Because Fiumara is an unranked prospect, the Tar Heels class remains 21st in the overall class rankings and 5th in the ACC class rankings.
