For the second time today, the Tar Heels have received news that a member of the wide receiving corps will be entering the transfer portal this offseason.
As first reported by Chandler Vessels of On3 Sports/Rivals, Tar Heel wide receiver Jason Robinson Jr. will enter the transfer portal when it opens on January 2nd. He joins fellow receiver Chris Culliver as those to make the announcement today. He should have three years of eligibility remaining wherever he lands.
Robinson Jr., who transferred in from Washington this past offseason, played in just one game this season for the Tar Heels. He took part in two snaps for the team on offense in the game against Richmond failing to register any stats.
His departure shouldn’t come as much of a surprise considering he was buried on the depth chart at the slot receiver spot. Redshirt freshman Javarius Green, true freshman Shanard Clower and true freshman Madrid Tucker all passed over him on the depth chart and are all expected to return next season. The team is also expected to sign CJ Sadler and Jaden Jefferson in the early signing period to come in and compete for reps there next season.
