The delay in hiring Bill Belichick didn’t allow the Tar Heels to get off to a great start in the transfer portal, but on Friday the team could finally host their first transfer.
Elon transfer edge rusher Kahmari Brown was on campus earlier today for the first of two official visits that he will take. Brown was a guy that the Tar Heels immediately offered when he entered the portal and quickly established themselves as a contender along with rival NC State, who is the other finalist. He will officially visit the Wolfpack over the weekend before making a decision.
Brown entered the transfer portal after spending his true freshman season at Elon and making a big impact right out of the gate. He played in eleven of the team’s twelve games and tallied 33 total tackles, 9.0 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, 30 total pressures and a forced fumble in 313 snaps.
This would be a nice first addition for the Tar Heel in the portal at a position where they are losing both of their starters to graduation and need some experienced options to go alongside Beau Atkinson, who is slated to return as of right now. The question now is was the allure of playing for one of the greatest coaches to ever do it enough to beat out whatever the Wolfpack show him this weekend?
