There haven’t been a lot of public reports about who visited Chapel Hill on Sunday, but one that has been officially confirmed is an offensive lineman with Power 4 starting experience.

As reported by Chris Hummer and Matt Zenitz of 247Sports, Baylor transfer offensive tackle Sean Thompkins was on campus for a visit today after entering the transfer portal back in mid-December. He will have two years of eligibility remaining wherever he lands.

Thompkins, a former 3✮ prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, spent each of the first three years of his career at Baylor, playing in eleven games and starting the final five games of the season. This year, he played 460 snaps, most of them at left tackle for the Bears, and graded out with a 48.1 run block grade, a 50.3 pass block grade and a 47.9 overall grade. In 270 pass block reps, he allowed four sacks and 16 total quarterback pressures.

This seems like another bargain option for the team along the offensive line, but may very well be one that the team has to settle for with the budget they have. The good news is that Thompkins does bring a little experience with him, but he has to be much better than he was as a redshirt sophomore this season. Let’s hope that the team has the money to be able to find some more accomplished names than this in the portal along the offensive line.
