Heel Tough Blog: Tar Heels Lose PK to Portal

There is a steady flow of commitments coming into the Tar Heel football program right now but there is also a slower stream of players exiting the program.

As first reported on Tuesday by Inside Carolina, the Tar Heels are losing freshman kicker Guytano Bartolomeo to portal. He will have four years of eligibility remaining wherever he lands.

Bartolomeo will depart Chapel Hill after just one season with the program where he did not see a single snap. Back at the high school level, he hit 143 of his 145 PAT attempts and 11 of his 16 field goals with a long of 41. He also handled kickoffs in his final two seasons with 60 of his 127 kickoffs registering as touchbacks.

With him having yet to kick a ball in a college game, it’s hard to say he is a major loss but it does leave the team with true freshman early enrollee David Green as the only kicker on the roster. Expect the team to add at least one more option here before we get to the spring.
