Heel Tough Blog: Tar Heels Lose Wide Receiver Commit

The Tar Heels made a late addition to their 2024 class earlier this afternoon in the form of JUCO corner Tyrane Stewart, but it wasn’t all good news for them on the 2024 recruiting trail.

Earlier this evening, 2024 3✮ WR Keenan Jackson announced he was decommitting from the Tar Heels class. Jackson, the No. 117 wide receiver in the class according to 247Sports Composite player rankings, committed to Carolina back in late June before a huge senior season at Weddington High School where he helped the school win their first 4A state title.

Jackson decommitment is part of a long standing push by the rival NC State Wolfpack to flip him. The expectation is that the flip will officially be completed on Wednesday when he will sign his NLI with the Wolfpack.

The Tar Heels should be fine numbers wise at the receiver position, but this one still hurts. Not only are you losing him to a rival, but Jackson has developed into a pretty complete outside receiver and was the member of this receiver class that could win 50/50 balls. The team will still bring in 4✮’s Jordan Shipp and Alex Taylor and 3✮ Javarius Green tomorrow and will still be very satisfied with the receiving haul they got in this class.
