Heel Tough Blog: Tar Heels One of Four Left Fighting for 2026 3✮ IOL

One of the Tar Heels top remaining offensive linemen set his final schools list and set his official visit date on Wednesday.

Earlier this evening, 2026 3✮ IOL Malcolm Gaston revealed to Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports that he is down to four schools and will announce his commitment on May 2nd. The Tar Heels are one of the four left in the fight along with Georgia, Florida and Virginia Tech.

Gaston, the No. 450 overall prospect and No. 43 interior offensive line, hails from North Augusta High School in North Augusta, SC. This past season, as a junior, he was named All-Region by the Aiken Standard.

As of right now, it would be absolutely stunning if he was to commit to anyone other than Georgia. He currently holds predictions across all three major sites to land with the Bulldogs, who have prioritized him since they offered and just hosted him this past weekend for an unofficial visit last week. As for the Tar Heels, who entered the race for him late, they will have to look elsewhere to find help on the interior of the offensive line.
