The Tar Heels are about ready to get their official visits with the 2026 class back underway and on Monday, the team received news that one of those who will visit campus in the month of June has narrowed down his decision.
As he revealed via his social media on Monday evening, 2026 3✮ ATH Jett Goldsberry has narrowed his decision down to six schools, a list that includes each of the schools that he has an official visit scheduled to. The Tar Heels, who will host him on the weekend of June 20th, are joined by Purdue (May 30th), Ole Miss (June 13th), Rutgers (June 6th), Wake Forest (TBD) and West Virginia (TBD) as those still remaining in the running for him.
Goldsberry, the No. 679 overall prospect and No. 44 athlete in the 2026 class according to 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, hails from Heritage Hills High School in Lincoln City, IN. This past season, as a junior, he threw for 1,807 yards, 26 touchdowns and just four interceptions and ran for 1,676 yards and 28 touchdowns on 155 carries in fifteen games as the team’s starting quarterback. On defense, he tallied 58 total tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, an interception, two passes defensed and a forced fumble. For his effort, he was named first team All-Pac and All-State teamand was named the Male Athlete of the Year by the Courier & Press in Evansville. In 2023, he threw for 1,206 yards, 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions and ran for 1,351 yards and 20 touchdowns. Defensively, he collected 80 total tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, two interceptions and five passes defensed. Back in 2022, when he was a freshman, he threw for just 280 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions and ran for 232 yards and six touchdowns on 58 rush attempts. Defensively, he compiled 74 total tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack and three passes defensed.
The Tar Heels have to feel pretty good about where they are at right now in this recruitment. On3 Sports Recruiting Prediction Machine has them as the clear leader for his services, giving the staff a 50.0% chance to eventually land his commitment. It’s also a good sign that the team will be getting the final shot with him to counter whatever is thrown his way during the month, including from in-state Purdue.
