The Tar Heels are still searching to fill holes at both edge rusher and linebacker and the staff is set to have another transfer portal target that has the ability to play both that has scheduled a visit to campus.
As he posted on his social media on Tuesday afternoon, Oklahoma State transfer linebacker/edge rusher Jonathan Agumadu will be officially visiting Chapel Hill tomorrow. He visited Utah State over the weekend after entering the transfer portal on April 23rd and was scheduled to visit Colorado today but ended up not doing so according to his agent's comments to Inside Carolina. His agent also says that Virginia Tech and Wake Forest have expressed interest in him. He will have four years of eligibility remaining wherever he ends up.
Agumadu, a former 3✮ recruit in the 2024 class, came to Oklahoma State as an edge rusher but spent this spring at the off-ball linebacker position, which is where it appears the Tar Heels are wanting to play him based off of Inside Carolina’s reporting. In his lone season in Stillwater, he played in three games, all on special teams, with his career-high snaps (6) coming in the team's game against Texas Tech. During his senior year of high school, Agumadu finished with 37 total tackles, 10.0 tackles for loss, 6.0 sacks and three quarterback hurries while spending the majority of snaps at the edge rusher spot.
This would be another high-risk, high-reward option at the linebacker spot, but it is worth it with where the team is at with that room right now.
