The Tar Heels' pursuit of a big man really caught fire on Thursday, as the program was linked to three different big men throughout the day. We told you earlier about the connection the team has to Kentucky transfer Aaron Bradshaw and the visit that is on the horizon for Arizona transfer Oumar Ballo, but the team has their eye on a third big name at the position to potentially fill the shoes of Armando Bacot.

According to R.L. Bynum of the Tar Heel Tribune, the Tar Heels have been in contact with Rutgers transfer Clifford Omoruyi. Omoruyi, the No. 3 center and No. 6 overall player in the portal according to 247Sports, has one year of eligibility remaining.

Omoruyi brings plenty of offensive firepower, averaging 10.4 points per game or more in each of the last three seasons while shooting over 50% overall in each of those years as well. His biggest impact, though, comes on the defensive end of the floor, where he has been named an All-Big Ten defensive team member in each of the last three years after averaging 2.1 blocks per game last year and 2.9 blocks per game this year. He wouldn’t pack quite the scoring punch that Bacot did, but he’d give them one of the best defensive centers in the country and would still provide enough on the offense end to thrive in the middle for the team.
