Over the past week, the Tar Heels have seen a handful of entries into the transfer portal and on Thursday, the biggest name so far entered the portal.
According to multiple reports, Tar Heel linebacker Khmori House is planning to enter the transfer portal when it opens on January 2nd. He will have two years of eligibility remaining wherever he eventually lands.
In his lone season in Chapel Hill, House finished with a team-high 81 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, 20 total quarterback pressures, an interception and a pass defensed in a team-high 777 snaps. He was picked on in coverage, especially late in the season, allowing 28 of his 32 targets to be caught for 242 yards and three touchdowns.
His departure is a huge blow to the Tar Heel linebacker room that is set to lose its other two major contributors, Andrew Simpson and Mikai Gbayor, to graduation. If House does not return, the team will likely have to hit the portal hard this offseason again and hope for some of the underclassmen in the room, led by Timir Hickman-Collins and Jonathan Agumadu, to take a massive leap to at least become reliable pieces of the rotation.
