The Tar Heels have had a lot of different transfers over the past week, including a group of walk-ons entering to find some scholarship offers elsewhere.
One of those who flew under the radar over the last few days is defensive back Major Byrd, who entered the portal on Sunday as he confirmed via his social media account. He has already heard from schools like Charlotte, UMass, Elon and amongst others. Wherever he lands, Byrd will have three years of eligibility left.
Byrd played in just one game in his two seasons at Carolina. He played three snaps in the game against Campbell earlier this year but did not register any stats.
Byrd’s departure makes a lot of sense considering he is getting some interest already and this should be an easy replacement with another walk-on.
