After missing out on Aaron Bradshaw, Hubert Davis wasn’t shy to continue to recruit transfers from Kentucky, getting involved with Adou Thiero, the guard, who spent the last two seasons playing for John Calipari. This past season, Thiero averaged 7.2 points per game while shooting 49% from the field, and 32% from behind the arc. He drastically improved his scoring output, and his field goal efficiency from his freshman season, where he averaged 2.3 points per game, on 35%.
Thiero is considered a guard, despite being 6-8, but his size would lead you to believe that he could play on the wing if need be, which may be the case, as Carolina is waiting on the decision from Harrison Ingram, who is deciding whether or not to return for another season or go to the NBA.
Thiero was the second-leading rebounder for Kentucky last season at 5.0 rebounds per game, and that was even with him missing almost a month due to a back injury. His best performance came against Kansas in the Champions Classic, where he posted a double-double in the loss to the Jayhawks. In Kentucky’s win over Carolina in the CBS Sports Classic in December, Thiero scored 7 points and registered four blocks.
Earlier today, Jeff Borzello from ESPN reported that Thiero is down to five schools, with UNC making the final cut. He’s also considering a potential return to Kentucky to play new head coach Mark Pope, Arkansas, to continue playing for John Calipari, along with Indiana and Pittsburgh.
