Heel Tough Blog: 2026-27 ACC Schedule for Carolina Basketball
A sign that the college basketball season is getting closer is the release of the conference schedule for the upcoming season, and earlier today, the ACC unveiled the full conference schedule for every team after informing the schools of their opponents for the 2026-27 season. With that in mind, let’s take a month-by-month look at Carolina’s first ACC slate under new head coach Michael Malone:
December:
The Tar Heels will only play one ACC game before the calendar turns to 2027, as UNC will open conference play under Michael Malone against California on December 30th.
January:
After the home date with California, Carolina will hit the road for the first time in league under Malone, for an always tricky road game at Boston College, followed by a road date with Louisville, where they may or may not play against Seth Trimble. After those back-to-back road games, UNC returns home to host NC State for the only ACC contest between the two rivals. Carolina is only home once, before a road game at Florida State, a team that vastly improved as last season moved along. After the road trip to Tallahassee, Carolina will play three of their final four conference games that month at home, against Stanford, Virginia, and SMU, with a road trip to Syracuse sandwiched between the home dates. Remember, UNC will play Illinois in a non-conference game in Nashville, which will be the game of the month.
February:
The month of February will begin in South Bend, before back-to-back home games against Georgia Tech, and a return date with Louisville will take place. After the home game with Louisville, Carolina will make the short trip to Cameron Indoor Stadium to renew their rivalry with the Duke Blue Devils. Carolina will enjoy a week off after the first Duke game, but will stay on the road, traveling to Big Four opponent Wake Forest, before the penultimate home game of the season against Miami. The final game of the month will be a road date at Virginia Tech.
March:
The final month of the season features only two games, before the annual ACC Tournament. Carolina’s final road game will be at Pittsburgh, before Michael Malone closes out his first ACC season at home against the Duke Blue Devils.
