After Noah Williamson committed to Alabama, it was only a matter of time before Carolina turned their attention in the transfer portal, in hopes of finding a big man to add to the roster for the 2025-26 season. That search didn’t take long, as it led them to Arizona transfer Henri Veesaar, who entered the portal shortly after Arizona’s season came to an end in the Sweet 16. Veesaar is 7-0, big man from Estonia, and has spent the last couple of seasons in the Arizona program. This past season, he played in 37 games, with 5 starts, and he averaged 9.4 points, and 5.0 rebounds, on 59% shooting.
According to Inside Carolina, not only has UNC been in contact with Veesaar, who entered the portal with a no-contact tag, but they are set to host him on a visit tomorrow, one day before the dead period kicks in on Thursday. Veesaar would be the third transfer to visit UNC this off-season, joining San Diego State transfer Nick Boyd, who visited over the weekend, and Elon transfer, Nick Dorn, who visited today.
Ven-Allen Lubin is expected to return for next season, but he hasn’t yet made it official. Jalen Washington entered the transfer portal, leaving a void for a big man to be added, with James Brown entering his sophomore season (assuming he doesn’t transfer), and there currently isn’t a big man committed in the 2025 recruiting class. Veesaar suddenly becomes a top priority for Hubert Davis and Jim Tanner, with their a lack of star big men in the transfer portal, to go along with the need for one on Carolina’s roster. Expect Carolina to go all out tomorrow, in hopes of securing their transfer portal commitment of the 2025 off-season.
