After announcing on Monday that he’d return to North Carolina for the 2026-27 season, international transfer Luka Bogavac has become the 8th Tar Heel to enter the transfer portal since last Sunday. Both Matt Zenitz on CBS Sports and Pete Nakos of On3 have reported and confirmed the move. Bogavac made his decision to return before Michael Malone was introduced as the new coach of the Tar Heels, and it appears that, after meeting with Malone and the staff, combined with how they are attacking the transfer portal, Bogavac wasn’t a priority for next year’s roster, thus the decision to transfer.
Bogavac averaged 9.8 points per game for the Tar Heels last season, but shot just 40% from the field and 35% from behind the arc. He played in 33 games, making 21 starts for the Tar Heels. He scored a career-high 20 points in the win over Clemson on Senior Night, as he knocked down 6 of 10 three-pointers, to help set a new school record for home wins in a single season at 18.
