The Tar Heels are off and rolling with commitments from the portal today and one of those targets to commit is a former Power 4 starting corner who is wrapping up his trip to Chapel Hill on Tuesday.

As first reported by Andrew Jones of TarHeel247, the Tar Heels have added a commitment in the transfer portal from Michigan State transfer DB Ade Willie as he concluded his official visit to the school this morning. He has one year of eligibility remaining after redshirting this season.

Willie, 6’1, 190 lbs., spent the past four seasons in East Lansing with the Spartans and appeared in 30 games. He made seven career starts in his career with the first three coming at corner and the last four coming this season as a safety. In his career, Willie has compiled 34 total tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss and a pass breakup. Coverage has been the biggest area of concern for him, as he has allowed 406 yards and four touchdowns on 25 receptions.

Willie is another guy who doesn’t boast the most successful resume but is an experienced piece in a room that needs more of it. This is an addition that should not stand in the way of them going to get more help at either corner or safety, preferably with a more successful track record.
