When UNC lost to VCU in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, it was believed to be the final game of Seth Trimble’s college career, after four seasons in Chapel Hill. While he has been preparing for the next step in his basketball journey, the NCAA has been mulling adding a fifth year to college eligibility, and if that decision were to be passed, seniors would be grandfathered into that decision, giving them an additional year of eligibility. While that decision has not yet been made, Trimble decided to enter the transfer portal, with a “no-contact” tag attached to his name, just in case he were granted an additional year of college eligibility.
Trimble played his entire career at North Carolina, appearing in 126 games, making 45 starts, and averaging 7.7 points per game for his college career. His senior season was his most productive, as Trimble averaged 14.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.0 assists, on 47% shooting from the field, and 29% from behind the arc. Trimble did enter the transfer portal after his sophomore season, but returned to the UNC program, and after his game-winning shot against Duke this past season, sketched his name into Tar Heel fans' forever.
