The Tar Heels are searching to add to Michael Malone first roster in Chapel Hill and the team has had an interesting new target pop up as of this morning.

As first announced by Joe Tipton of On3 earlier today, NC State transfer guard Matt Able is down to seven schools that he is considering as transfer destinations and the Tar Heels are one of those seven. Able announced last Monday that he was going to enter the transfer portal and that he would also be entering the NBA Draft.

Able, the No. 31 overall player and No. 10 shooting guard in the transfer portal according to On3, entered the portal after just one season in Raleigh. As a freshman, he played in all 34 games for the Wolfpack, averaging 8.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 21.3 minutes per game. He shot 41.6% from the field, 35.5% from three and 79.6% from the foul line. Coming out of high school last year, Able was rated as the No. 26 overall prospect and No. 10 shooting guard in the 2025 recruiting class according to On3.

To this point, Able has yet to set a visit to Chapel Hill. According to Tipton, he was on campus with UCLA earlier today, which is the only current visit that he has scheduled as of right now.
