Heel Tough Blog: UNC Adds Buffalo Guard in Late Transfer Portal Addition

The Tar Heel Story
The Tar Heel Story

After hosting Buffalo transfer guard Angelo Brizzi on an official visit earlier this summer, Brizzi has committed to North Carolina as a late addition to the basketball roster for the 2026-27 season. Brizzi, who was granted a hardship waiver by the NCAA, will play his sixth season of college basketball in Chapel Hill, after starting his career at Villanova, before making his way to Davidson and, most recently, Buffalo.

Last year, Brizzi averaged 14.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists, while shooting 37% from behind the arc. In his previous season, which was spent at Longwood, Brizzi shot an even better 40% from deep. At 6-3, Brizzi, who is left-handed, joins a backcourt that was in need of not only another ball-handler, but a proven outside shooter, with guys like Terrence Brown and Neoklis Avdalas both needing to make improvements in that area of their game.

Brizzi’s transfer portal commitment to North Carolina is a full-circle moment for a player who took a visit to UNC all the way back in 2019, when future Tar Heel commits Caleb Love and Walker Kessler were both on campus for official visits.
