Heel Tough Blog: UNC Offers Five-Star PG, Lands Visit With Five-Star PF

While Hubert Davis is still looking to add to the roster for the 2025-26 season, it’s time for him to turn his attention to the 2026 recruiting cycle, with the summer AAU circuit right around the corner. The Tar Heels don’t have any commits in the 2026 class just yet, but that should change over the next couple of months, with how many prospects Carolina has offered. They added to that number when they offered five-star point guard Dylan Mingo earlier today. Mingo is 6-5 point guard from Glen Head, New York, and already holds offers from Alabama, Illinois, Louisville, Texas, and others. He is ranked as No. 13 prospect in the 2026 class, including being considered the No. 3 point guard, and the No. 1 player from the state of New York, all according to 247Sports. He has excelled on the EYBL circuit this season, averaging over 18 points per game and over 7 rebounds.

While that news came out today, Carolina got some other recruiting news earlier this week, when five-star forward Toni Bryant scheduled a visit to Chapel Hill for September 1st, after receiving a scholarship back in February. Bryant’s official visit to UNC will be the same day that Bill Belichick begins his tenure as Carolina’s football coach, as the Tar Heels will host TCU in a standalone game on Labor Day Night, in what figures to be the best environment in Kenan Stadium’s near 100-year history. Bryant is considered the No. 10 player in the 2026 class, the No. 3 power forward, and the No. 1 player from the state of Florida. He holds offers from Missouri, USC, Indiana, Creighton, and others. He’s set to visit Missouri on September 6th.

As a refresher, here’s the list of players that UNC has offered scholarships to in the 2026 recruiting cycle: Toni Bryant, Miikka Muurinen, Taylen Kinney, Deron Ripper Jr, Dylan Mingo, Cole Cloer, Tyran Stokes, Cameron Holmes, Anthony Thompson, Jordan Smith, and Caleb Holt. Every player is currently considered to be a five-star recruit.
