Heel Tough Blog: UNC Offers Multiple Four-Star Prospects in 2025 Class

247Sports

While Carolina is awaiting news on players that are going through the NBA Draft process, and weighing their options in the transfer portal, Hubert Davis and his staff, were busy working the 2025 recruiting class, handing out multiple offers to high school prospects earlier today. Carolina enjoyed some great recruiting success in the last cycle, bringing in multiple McDonald’s All-Americans, both of whom, figure to play an important role in 2024-25.

The first player that Carolina officially offered, was Malachi Moreno, a four-star center from the state of Kentucky. In the last month or so, Moreno has picked up offers from Louisville and Illinois, and those took place after multiple visits to the Kentucky program, although that happened under the John Calipari coaching staff. According to 247Sports Composite, Moreno is considered the No. 38 overall player in the 2025 class, while being the No. 5 center, but the No. 1 player from the state of Kentucky.

The other player that earned an offer from UNC, was Braylon Mullins, a 6-5 shooting guard from Indiana. Carolina joins a list of schools to offer the four-star shooting guard, including national runner-up Purdue, along with Michigan, Cincinnati, and Butler, and of course Indiana. According to 247Sports Composite, Mullins is ranked as the No. 108 player in the class, the No. 13 shooting guard, and the No. 7 player from the state of Indiana.

Fans will look at these players rankings, and see that they aren’t as highly rated as the likes of Ian Jackson or Drake Powell, but it’s important to remember that Hubert Davis still wants to build the core of his roster through the high school ranks, with players that will stay in college for an extended period of time. There’s obviously a long way to go in the 2025 recruiting cycle, but if either player were to make their way to Chapel Hill, on the surface it would be that they’d be in the program for 2-3 years.
