The Tar Heels still have one scholarship available before filling out the roster for the upcoming season, and a new transfer portal target has emerged, according to Inside Carolina. Per IC, the Carolina Basketball program has been in contact with Oregon transfer Wei Lin, who spent one season with the Ducks. In the 2025-26 season, Lin played in 30 games, making 30 starts, and he averaged 6.6 points, 0.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists, while shooting 34% from the field and 30% from behind the arc. He scored a career-high 23 points in an overtime loss at Rutgers, as Lin shot 8-14 from the field, including 6-12 from behind the arc.

Lin stands at 6-4 and weighs roughly 190 pounds, but what’s more interesting about Lin, a former international player, is that despite being 22 years old, he’s classified as a sophomore, giving him two more years of college basketball eligibility.

Prior to joining the Oregon basketball program, Lin played in the Chinese Basketball Association for the Nanjing Monkey Kings, where he averaged 15.5 points in 2022-23, 20.0 points per game in 2023-24, and 21.0 points per game in 2024-25.
