The Tar Heels biggest remaining need for the Tar Heels is the off-ball linebacker spot and it appears the team has a new target at that position.
According to a report from Pete Nakos of On3 Sports, the Tar Heels are set to host Florida State transfer linebacker Timir Hickman-Collins sometime next week. Hickman-Collins, who entered the transfer portal back late last week, has four years of eligibility remaining at the college level.
Hickman-Collins, a former 3✮ prospect in the 2024 class, spent just one season in Tallahassee and failed to play in a single game. Back in high school, he earned all-region honors as a junior and sophomore while playing at Indian Land High School in Fort Mill, SC.
This seems to be the secondary plan for the team when it comes to getting someone at the linebacker spot and it means that the team may be very thin at the position this season. Expect to see a lot of Washington transfer Khmori House and Missouri transfer Mikai Gbayor throughout the 2025 season.
