After landing Virginia Tech transfer Neokilis Avdalas on Monday, there was a lot of positive momentum around the UNC Basketball program, and while it would be unfair to say that is has stalled, there hasn’t been much movement since. The Tar Heels are still awaiting a decision from Utah transfer Terrence Brown, who was on campus earlier in the week, but was visiting Kansas on Wednesday. Meanwhile, after a strong offer was made to Wake Forest transfer Juke Harris, the industry believes that he is Tennessee bound, although nothing is official just yet. With that in mind, Michael Malone and his staff continue to do their due diligence, contacting other targets in the transfer portal. Here’s the latest transfer portal intel around the Carolina Basketball program.

After making the final cut for NC State transfer Matt Able, Carolina has now made contact with another Wolfpack transfer, in the form of Paul McNeil, a Rockingham native, who has played his first two seasons in Raleigh. Last year, McNeil played in 34 games, making 32 starts, and averaged 13.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 0.6 assists, while shooting 43% from the field, and an impressive 43% from behind the arc, on over 7 attempts per game. In State’s blowout win over UNC last season, McNeil scored 10 points, on 4-6 shooting, making 2-4 of his three-point attempts.

In addition to the latest transfer targets, some other transfer that drew interest from UNC have found their new basketball homes for next season. Notre Dame’s Jalen Haralson, who had Carolina in his final three, will play at Tennessee in 2026-27. Alabama big man Aiden Sherrell, a potential replacement option for Henri Veesaar, has landed at Indiana.
