It took some time, but after days and maybe even a week of speculation, Michael Malone and the Tar Heels landed another big fish in the transfer portal, in the form of Utah transfer Terrence Brown. Brown entered the transfer portal after averaging 19.9 points per game at Utah, along with 2.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists, while shooting 45% from the field, and 33% from behind the arc.
Before his standout season at Utah, Brown was a decorated player at FDU for two seasons, where he earned multiple All-NEC honors, including 2024-25 NEC MIP, and 2025 All-NEC Tournament Team. In his career, which spans 96 games, Brown has averaged 16.1 points per game, 3.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, while shooting 44% from the field and 29% from behind the arc.
After losing Derek Dixon to the transfer portal, Carolina’s backcourt is seemingly rebuilt with the addition of Terrence Brown. He will join fellow transfer Neokilis Avdalas (Virginia Tech), along with Jaydon Young and Isaiah Denis, both of whom returned to Chapel Hill after initially entering the transfer portal.
According to 247Sports, Brown is ranked as the No. 43 overall transfer in this year’s portal cycle, along with being ranked as the No. 8 combo guard. Brown joins Avdalas as the first two transfers for Michael Malone, but the Tar Heels might not be done adding talent to the roster via the transfer portal, as they are still in the running for Wake Forest transfer Juke Harris and multiple transfers from NC State.
