As the Tar Heels are still working to complete their non-conference schedule for the 2026-27 season, the ACC league office dropped the opponents for the upcoming ACC slate, with dates and times to be announced at a later time. As a reminder, the league moved back to an 18-game slate as of last season, with each program only playing two teams, both home and away. With that in mind, here’s a breakdown of Carolina’s 2026-27 ACC schedule.
Home & Away:
The two schools that UNC will play both in Chapel Hill and away. Obviously, Carolina will continue to play Duke both at home and on the road, with the other school this year being the Louisville Cardinals, meaning for a second straight season, UNC won’t play NC State twice, both home and away. With UNC set to play both Duke and Louisville twice, Carolina is scheduled to play two of the top four teams in the league twice, which will impact how the regular season standings unfold.
Home Only:
The teams that North Carolina will only play in Chapel Hill next season are California, Georgia Tech, Miami, NC State, SMU, Stanford, and Virginia. The Wolfpack will visit Chapel Hill, after not visiting UNC last season, the first time since 1919 that the Wolfpack didn’t play in Chapel Hill. Virginia, which returns virtually all of their production from last season, in addition to their high school recruits, and transfer portal additions, will visit the Dean Dome, as another that will enter next season with high expectations.
Away Only:
The road trips that Carolina will go on next season, outside of return games and Duke and Louisville, include Boston College, Florida State, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest. This season will mark the first time since 1947 that Carolina won’t play a road game at NC State.
The lone ACC school that UNC will not play in 2026-27 is the Clemson Tigers, making it the first time since 1950-51 that UNC isn’t scheduled to play each other in the regular season.
