Heel Tough Blog: Senior Guard Seth Trimble Set to Return Against Ohio State

ree

After missing over a month of action, including nine games, senior guard Seth Trimble is set to return to the lineup for tomorrow’s game against Ohio State in the CBS Sports Classic, according to Inside Carolina. Trimble, who suffered an arm injury in a workout after the big Kansas win back in the first week of the season, has been gearing up for his return for the last week, and is finally ready to compete on the court with his teammates, who led UNC to an 8-1 record without, including a win at Kentucky, and at home over Georgetown.

Before the injury, Trimble was off to a solid offensive start, averaging 14.5 points per game, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists. His return will help an offense that needs to generate more transition points and be able to break down the defense in the half-court with the dribble drive. It also provides more depth in the back court, which is needed, with Hubert Davis relying heavily on Kyan Evans, Luka Bogavac, and Derek Dixon for the majority of the minutes. It also should move Luka Bogavac back to his natural position at the “3”, which should force defensive stopper Jarin Stevenson to the bench, to provide depth behind Caleb Wilson and Henri Veesaar.

Trimble’s return will impact Carolina on both ends of the floor, as he’s still the best perimeter defender on the roster, in addition to how he helps UNC put the ball in the basket. His leadership is his most valuable asset, and now Hubert Davis has his best extension of him on the floor.

The notion around this Tar Heel team was that once they got Trimble back, they’d hit another gear, and we’re about to find out how real that belief is tomorrow, against a very good Ohio State team from the Big 10.
